Baltimore City Fire Department Property on Hanover Street to House Medic Units After Renovation

In partnership with the Department of General Services, the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) has begun renovating the former Truck 6 building at 1227 S. Hanover St. BCFD is proposing the station will have two medic units vehicles and an EMS officer.

A spokesperson for BCFD told SouthBMore.com: “At this time, no further information is available and everything is in the preliminary stages. We hope to have more information within the near future to share with the entire community.”

The station has been used in a limited capacity in recent years. The two-story building is 2,600 sq. ft and was built in 1920.

The South Baltimore Peninsula currently has three active fire stations which are Second Battalion Engine Company 2 at 800 Light St. in Federal Hill; Sixth Battalion Engine Company 26, Truck Company 6, Medic 5, BC EMS, Critical Alert 66 at 1001 E. Fort Ave. in Locust Point; and Sixth Battalion Fire Boat 1, Fire Rescue Boat 1 at 2609 Leahy Street in Locust Point.
