There will be a candlelight vigil tonight at 7pm at Digital Harbor High School in Federal Hill for Baltimore City firefighter Rodney Pitts III.
Pitts III died from injuries caused by battling a dwelling fire in the 5200 block of Linden Heights Ave. in Northwest Baltimore on October 19, 2023. Pitts III, an alumni of Digital Harbor, was 31 years old.
Organizers of the event ask everyone to bring a candle, but no balloons.
A GoFundMe has been set up to benefit the children and family of Pitts III. From the GoFundMe:
Baltimore Fire Fighters Local 734 is raising money to benefit the children and family of our fallen brother, Rodney Pitts; he succumbed to injuries while battling a dwelling fire in the 5200 block of Linden Heights Ave on October 19, 2023. 100% of the money raised through this GoFundMe will go to the family to offset funeral/memorial and other expenses resulting from this tragic event. Please help us reach our goal to raise $200,000.00 by November 1.
Firefighter Tavon Marshall, Firefighter Seth Robbins, Lieutenant Dillon J. Rinaldo, and Lieutenant Keith Brooks were also injured in the fire on Linden Heights Ave.
