Popular Little Italy restaurant Angeli’s Pizzeria is coming to Federal Hill. It will take over a bar and restaurant space at 1035 S. Charles St. that was formerly Brothers Sushi. It will be the third location for the business which was started in 2019 by brothers Juniet and Mert Ozturk and business partner Cem Ari.
The Federal Hill location will be run by new business partners, Hasan and Fatma Ilhan. The Ilhans are family members of the Ozturks who just moved to Baltimore from Turkey.
Angeli’s makes New York-style pizzas in brick ovens. Pizzas come in 12″ and 16″ pies, and individual slices will also likely be sold at the Federal Hill location. Angeli’s also wraps up the pizza dough into calzones and offers menu items including baked wings, salads, pastas, sandwiches, and desserts.
Angeli’s will be open every day for lunch and dinner. The hours will likely be 11am to 10pm on Sunday to Wednesday, and 11am to 11pm on Thursday to Saturday. The restaurant group is considering opening earlier as they will offer a menu with coffee and house-made bagels.
The bar will only be open when the kitchen is open.
Customers can dine at Angeli’s bar and tables, or order carryout via delivery apps.
Angeli’s was named as a one of the “25 pizzerias you need to visit in your lifetime” on Yelp.
Juniet Ozturk said they test the water and ingredients to make sure they get the exact pH of New York water and make sure to use the best ovens.
The business partners are now looking to grow the brand. They opened a location in Govans in 2022, and they are eying additional locations and looking for business partners to run these restaurants.
When asked about the desire to open a Federal Hill location, Juniet Ozturk said, “This is a great area and a great opportunity. Many of our customers live over here. We think it is going to be a fantastic location.”
He added, “We love our company and we love investing in Baltimore.”
The owners hope to open Angeli’s in Federal Hill in January.
