This week the Charm City Circulator launched its Purple Line extension north to 33rd St. through Charles Village and up to Johns Hopkins University. The route previously ended at Penn Station in Station North. South Baltimore residents can still catch the Purple Line at seven different stops reaching as far south as Fort Ave. Bus service is expected every 10 to 15 minutes.
The Banner Route will also continue after it was announced in May that it would be eliminated (that decision was later reversed in July). At the time of the July announcement, DOT Director William Johnson said that the Banner Route would be full service Monday through Friday from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm and would serve as more of a shuttle service in between and on the weekends when it would run hourly.
District 11 Councilman Eric Costello told SouthBMore.com that the frequency changes discussed regarding the Banner Route in July have not been implemented at this time and that another public meeting would have to take place to implement those changes. That public meeting has not been scheduled at this time, so there will not be a change in service unless or until that occurs.
Charm City Circulator also announced that all routes will now run on a year-round schedule Monday through Thursday from 7am to 8m, Friday from 7am to midnight, Saturday from 9am to midnight, and Sunday from 9am to 8pm. The Banner Route will be at a 15 to 20 minute frequency with all other routes at a 10 to 15 minute frequency. Previously routes began at 630am in the morning Monday through Friday and went until 9pm on Sunday through Thursday.
