Rallo’s Lot to be Redeveloped
The parking lot behind the former Rallo’s and Big Matty’s Diner is in the preliminary stages of redevelopment. The lot is owned by Scott Plank’s War Horse Development and was once eyed for new townhomes. From the Riverside Neighborhood Association (RNA) Newsletter:
The development companies involved with Anthem House are in the preliminary stages of development for the old Rallo’s building and the adjacent parking lot. The parking lot will be developed into a mixed use project with retail/office on first floor and apartments above. The project is tentatively planned for 4 or 5 stories. There is no solid design plan as of yet with many presentations still to come for the Planning Dept and Planning Commission. RNA has been and will continue to be involved in the process with a presentation to the association to come in the New Year. Currently, the first step has been made with a rezoning request put into the City Council. The rezoning will most likely get on the docket for January. RNA will keep the community updated as this project, and its planning, continues.
Breadbangers Closes
After first opening in June, Breadbangers at 544 E. Fort Ave. has closed. Green Door Properties, the building’s current owner, told SouthBMore.com that the property is under contract to be sold to a new owner and as a result Breadbangers closed.
Prior to Breadbangers, Tuscan Fresh occupied the space for less than six months of operation. The space was also previously home to Ullswater, Sly Fox Pub, and Soigné.
Piaza Adding a Liquor License
McHenry Row’s Piaza is in the process of adding a liquor license to its fast-casual Italian restaurant. The liquor license is currently being held at the shopping center and will be transferred to Piaza. Owner David Crocetti told SouthBMore.com that they plan on serving a couple beers on tap, a couple bottles, and a small selection of wines.
Piaza also recently started selling 14-inch pizzas along with personal pizzas. It will also be introducing wings and strombolis in the near future to go along with its piadas and gourmet salads.
McHenry Row is the second location for Piaza, which is eyeing new locations in Anne Arundel and Baltimore County.
