Sid Yoga has opened a new studio, Sid Yoga Federal Hill, in a space at 301 E. Fort Ave. Sid Yoga Federal Hill is the second studio for Sid Yoga, which opened Sid Yoga Center in Towson in 2010. Sid Yoga is owned by Sid McNairy, a former college football player and coach, who used yoga as a way to heal his body from football injuries before beginning to teach yoga to other football players, including former NFL player Justin McCareins and the Morgan State football team. Sid Yoga Federal Hill is currently offering 26 classes throughout the week.
A daycare center will also be opening soon on a separate floor of 301 E. Fort Ave.
Another Port Covington Parcel Purchased
101 W. Dickman St., the location of a Port Covington warehouse that was recently eyed by Chesapeake Craft Brewers as a brewery space, has been purchased by Chevy Chase developer Marc Weller according to the Baltimore Business Journal. The area, which also goes by the name of West Covington, was also once eyed by Under Armour as a headquarters before they were approved for 400,000 sq. ft. of growth at Tide Point. 101 W. Dickman St. is adjacent to the National Aquarium Environmental Demonstration Area, which is under construction to become a public park.
Baltimore Business Journal also reported that Weller is behind the purchase of the Port Covington shopping center and an adjacent former Streuver Bros. property.
AfroFashion and Art Opens
Pigtown Main Street has gained another new tenant as AfroFashion and Art has opened at 787 Washington Blvd. in the home of a former nail salon. The store specializes in authentic West African clothing and hand-crafted art. AfroFashion is open seven days a week from 8:30 am to 7 pm.
Pigtown Main Street Executive Director Ben Hyman told SouthBMore.com that a few other businesses will be opening soon as well. 2 Chic Boutique, The Washington Blvd. Injury Center, 7-Eleven, and a second Work Printing & Graphics location have all leased new spaces on Pigtown Main Street in the recent months.
Ole Federal Hill Liquors Cat Looking for a Home
During Ole Federal Hill Liquors’ recent move from 1238 Light St. to 1232 Light St., the resident cat, Tony, was left without a home. Tony is currently living with a local resident, who is seeking a permanent home for him. More information on adopting Tony can be found on Craigslist.

Camden Carroll’s STX continues has added to their growing team with the signing of Ben Hunt to a one-year endorsement deal. Hunt is a Baltimore resident and Severna Park native.
Now a midfielder for the Chesapeake Bayhawks, Hunt was drafted 28th overall in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft. During his five seasons with the Bayhawks, Hunt has tallied 79 goals, 14 two-point goals and 23 assists. Hunt has been named 3x MLL Champion and 2x MLL All-Star. As a former team captain at the University of North Carolina, Hunt was awarded the Turnbull Trophy as the team’s Most Valuable Player.
“We’re thrilled to add such a clear MLL standout to our roster,” said Greg Tate, STX Men’s Marketing Manager, in a recent press release. “The fact that Ben lives in Baltimore and plays for the Bayhawks will allow us to work closely with him on new products and regional events.”
