Gyro Express to Open in Federal Hill
Gyro Express will soon be opening at the former home of Rubens Crepes at 1065 S. Charles St. Gyro Express will serve a menu focused on gyros and souvlaki in the recently renovated space. The team behind Gyro Express has run their Gyro Express food cart by Johns Hopkins Hospital for more than 20 years. 
Posh Jewels and Real Divas are LARGE Relocates to Federal Hill
The former home of Cottage Kidz and Bobabooi’s Treasure Chest is now Posh Jewels and Real Divas are LARGE, a women’s clothing and jewelry store that has relocated to 1129 Light St. from the Owings Mills Mall. According to their Facebook page, they will offer straight and plus size chic fashion.
Prudential YWGC Now Berkshire Hathaway
Real estate company Prudential Homesale YWGC Realty, which has a Federal Hill office at 1011 Light St. as well as several others around Baltimore, has become Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. A new awning was placed on the Federal Hill office last week. Prudential PenFed Realty, based at Southside Marketplace, remains unchanged.
Mi Ranchito Opens Under New Management
Hollins Market restaurant Mi Ranchito at 1116 Hollins St. opened in late 2013, but was recently closed for more than a month. They are now open under new management and will be open every day for lunch and dinner. From their Facebook page:

Lower Property Taxes
In February 2013, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced a plan to cut $.50 from the Baltimore City Property Tax Rate over the next 10 years from the rate of $2.268/100 to $1.76/100. That rate will be set at $2.13/100 starting on July 1st, dropping almost $.14 in the past two years, however rentals and business properties will remain at $2.25/100. Baltimore’s rates remain the highest in the area and region as they are twice as much as most jurisdictions in Maryland and the neighboring cities of Washington, DC and Philadelphia, which sit at .85 (for residents) and 1.34, respectively. Baltimore City members of the House of Delegates and Senate have sought more aggressive approaches to lower the rate.
MindGrub Celebrates Move to Locust Point
MindGrub Technologies, an app development company formerly based in Catonsville, has completed its move to a new 13,000 sq. ft. space at the Phillips headquarters at 1215 E. Fort Ave. in Locust Point, though the companywill be moving to the other building on the campus in early 2015. The Phillips headquarters is owned by local developer Mark Sapperstein and is also home to offices for Under Armour and Phillips.
