Zella’s Pizzeria to be Featured on House Hunters

You know it’s been a good year when you get to mention House Hunters in three different South Baltimore Business Roundups. Earlier this year HGTV’s popular show aired an episode that featured visits to Second Chance and the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM), as well as a House Hunters Renovation episode where a family purchased and rehabbed a home in Federal Hill/Riverside.

Zella’s Pizzeria in Hollins Market posted the following on its Facebook Page on December 11th:

House Hunters will be in the neighborhood this weekend to film a couple who purchased a house here. Part of the filming will take place at Zella’s (Saturday, around 3:00 p.m.). It’d be great to have as many of our loyal customers represented as possible, so please stop by!

Encantada Coming to AVAM

Ever had trouble getting into Hampden’s Birroteca? Getting a table might not get easier, but the owners of the popular restaurant are opening their third Baltimore restaurant, this time in Federal Hill at the former home of Mr. Rain’s Fun House at the AVAM. From Baltimore Magazine:

Birroteca and The Nickel Taphouse fans rejoice! Owner Robin Haas will take over the space with Encantada at AVAM. Encantada, while not specifically vegetarian, will feature a menu in which veggies play a leading role. The restaurant is set to open in the first quarter of 2015

Three new restaurants have opened in South Baltimore in the last couple of weeks as Sip Wine & Dine opened its doors inside the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Federal Hill, Tuscan Fresh debuted in Riverside/Federal Hill, and 1157 Bar and Kitchen served its first meals in Locust Point.

Stadium Square Reaches a Partnership

Stadium Square, the $250 million dollar development from Caves Valley Partners (CVP), has formed another partnership. In November CVP announced Baltimore Ravens tackle Eugene Monroe would be joining the team and now it has announced a partnership with Houston’s Hanover Co. to develop the northern most block of the project. From the Baltimore Business Journal:

Houston-based Hanover Co. will purchase a plot of land from Caves Valley Partners bounded by Cross Street, Leadenhall Street, West Street and Race Street. Mirmiran said the two companies had contemplated entering an equity partnership in the apartment building, but decided a simple land transaction would be “cleaner on both sides.”

“They design stuff to fit the neighborhood it’s in,” said Mirmiran, who once lived in the Hanover-developed Crescent apartment building in Fells Point. “I really respect the quality of their development projects throughout the country and in particular Baltimore.”

Hanover Co. also developed The Domain at Brewers Hill and the Hanover, which is also part of the Obrecht Commercial Real Estate Inc.-developed complex near the Shops at Canton Crossing.

Veep Films at SoBo Café

Federal Hill’s Anoula’s SoBo Cafe was the site of filming of the HBO show Veep. Last Wednesday, SoBo Cafe posted the following photo on its Instagram account.
