Under Armour Courting Johnny Manziel?

Locust Point’s Under Armour has been very aggressive in their recent partnerships which include Notre Dame, one of the biggest names in American sports, as well as ballerina Misty Copeland and Navy athletics.

Baltimore Sun’s Justin Fenton tweeted a buzz-worthy photo yesterday of signs welcoming former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel to their campus. Manziel, known as ‘Johnny Football,’ has been arguably the most popular college football player in the last two years. He is a Heisman Trophy winner and is projected as a top five pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Now, it appears Manziel is on his way to a recruiting trip with Under Armour.

Red Parrot Closed for Renovations

McHenry Row’s Red Parrot Asian Bistro is currently closed with a sign on the property that reads ‘Closed for Renovations.’

Red Parrot recently opened a new restaurant at Turf Valley Towne Square in Ellicott City, but closed a restaurant in Arlington, VA.

Hansel from South BaltimoreNational Publicity for South Baltimore Businesses

Baltimore couple Spike and Amy Gjerde, owners of Woodberry Kitchen, Artifact Coffee, Shoofly Diner and several other upcoming projects, have seen a steady rise to fame in the American culinary scene. They were recently interviewed by Where, a national travel publication, and they had some great things to say about several South Baltimore businesses and attractions including Ryleigh’s Oyster, Cross Street Market, Second Chance, Housewerks and Fort McHenry.

From the article:

Where do you take visitors to eat?

The city’s known for fish and shellfish, so either Thames Street Oyster House or Ryleigh’s Oyster. Crab cakes and oysters in Cross Street or Lexington markets are great experiences too.

My Perfect Day: A dream day in Baltimore with the Gjerdes

Morning: Breakfast ‘n’ Buds

We might head downtown to Pâtisserie Poupon for our favorites: pain aux raisins (Spike) and macaroons (Amy). Pâtisserie Poupon was the first pastry position Spike held when he returned to Baltimore after college, and he still consults Josef Poupon on occasion. Then we shop at Housewerks and Second Chance for items we can “upcycle” at home and in our restaurants, and Amy picks up flowers at Cross Street Market from The Flower Shop or Rosie’s Posies.

Publicity for 2 Chic Boutique
Pigtown’s recently-opened 2 Chic Boutique has been generating some buzz for Pigtown Main Street. They are already nearing 1000 fans on Facebook and were recently featured in a fashion show on WBAL TV, which you can watch here. State Senator Catherine Pugh, who is also the founder of the Baltimore Design School, is the owner of the boutique.
