Yard House Coming to the Inner Harbor

Yard House will be replacing the former J. Paul’s at the Light Street Pavilion of Harborplace in the Inner Harbor. From the Baltimore Business Journal:

It would be the first Maryland location for the fast-growing Yard House, which has more than 50 locations in the U.S. Its three newest locations are in New Jersey, Texas and Ohio. The closest Yard House is in Springfield Town Center in Northern Virginia.

The restaurant is known for having 100-plus beers on tap and menu items that include the black truffle cheeseburger, ahi poke stack and spicy jambalaya.

Harborplace is about to undergo a redevelopment with new owner Ashkenazy Corp. that will include a new food market.

M&T Bank Stadium Switching to Grass

The Ravens are switching back to natural grass at M&T Bank Stadium. From BaltimoreRavens.com:

“The players really wanted to play on grass and that was a key consideration. The coaches wanted to play on grass,” Casssaid.

Baltimore had natural grass in the stadium when M&T Bank Stadium opened in 1998, but it didn’t work out well.

The field got chewed up during the season and they had trouble keeping it in good condition late in the season due to sunlight restrictions. Starting in early November, sunlight does not reach the Ravens sideline from about the numbers into the bench.

Thus, the Ravens changed to an artificial turf from Sportsexe Momentum Turf for the 2003 season, then replaced that with a newer Shaw Momentum 51 turf before the start of the 2010 season.

Along with Ravens games, the field surface is also used for college football and lacrosse games, high school football games, and soccer matches for which the Ravens have previously installed grass on top of its existing turf.
