South Baltimore Business Roundup, 2/17
This roundup covered some disappointing news for the business community as Sorso Café and Riverside Café closed, but also good news as Three Ring, a tech company from NYC, relocated to the Inner Harbor area. The article also covered the news of a vacant Locust Point bar at 1401 Decatur St. being up for transfer, and that Baltimore was named the city with the fourth highest tax rates.

Real Estate Overview: South Baltimore to Gain 598 New Housing Units, 2/17
With many new residential projects announced so far in 2014, SouthBMore.com put together a rundown of all the current projects that have been proposed and that are under construction. According to our count, 598 housing units are in the works and 631 have been added since 2010 (the last time the census was calculated). In 2010, the peninsula had a population of 19,261.
Crossbar Plan Approved by the Liquor Board, 2/21
After ten months of discussions, two proposals, hundreds of hours of negotiations, two liquor board hearings totaling more than eight hours, and three attempts to challenge the validity of the liquor license, the plan for Crossbar der Biergarten was approved by the Board of Liquor License Commissioners for Baltimore City (BLLC).
The plan earned key support earlier in the month from some area neighborhood groups, but the plans for the property did run into issues the following week at the zoning board.
Changes Ahead for Ropewalk in Federal Hill, 2/14
Ropewalk Tavern, which has been a part of the Federal Hill bar and restaurant scene for more than 18 years, is excited about some upcoming changes, including a new seafood-heavy menu and proposed dueling pianos.

Cockey’s Now Open in Fells Point, 2/6
Completing their move from Hollins Market to Fells Point, Cockey’s Fells Point Restaurant and Bar is now open at 1901 Gough St. The renovated space at the former Shed Row is open seven days a week and the menu features starters, soups, seven different types of salad, ten different sandwiches, and fresh dough pizzas. Food prices range from $4-$11.
South Baltimore’s Reaction to the Sale of Port Covington, 2/5
The results of the SouthBMore.com poll, “What would you like to see happen at Port Covington?” showed that a desire for better shopping options was the clear winner. While plans for the property remain a mystery, the area is definitely excited.
